Where the Crowd Becomes the Culture: Politics x Adidas Originals LA 'Festival' Trainer OG

04.21.26

There is a moment at every festival when the crowd stops being a collection of strangers and becomes something else entirely. The Politics x Adidas Originals LA 'Festival' Trainer OG was built inside that feeling, drawing from the long history of festivals as gathering points where sound, movement, and style speak a shared language. From the counterculture grounds of Woodstock to the second line energy of Jazz Fest, this project is rooted in what happens when people show up for something larger than themselves.

The visual language comes straight from the archive. Decades of festival poster art carry a specific palette, saturated, layered, and expressive in a way that feels nostalgic without being backward looking. That same energy runs through the mixed-material upper, where soft suede overlays meet smooth nylon underlays in a composition that rewards a second look. The Three Stripes cut through the side in bright pink, and color blocking on the tongue adds dimension that mirrors the deliberate chaos of a well-designed poster. Nothing here is accidental.

The LA Trainer OG brings its own history to the project. Built on an adjustable peg cushioning system and a signature outsole that has stayed largely unchanged over the years, the silhouette is a study in heritage construction done right. It does not need to be reinvented to feel current, which made it the right foundation for a collaboration more interested in expression than reinvention.

Lafayette, LA has always understood what it means to celebrate. Festival International de Louisiane is one of the largest free outdoor music festivals in the country, and it is the kind of event that feels less like an occasion and more like a reunion. Releasing this collection there first is less a marketing decision and more the only logical one. The shoe and the city are already speaking the same language.

The Politics x Adidas Originals LA 'Festival' Trainer OG releases at the Politics pop-up during Festival International de Louisiane in Lafayette, LA on Thursday, April 23 at 6 PM CT. The collection will be available at all Politics locations on Friday, April 24 at 11 AM CT, with remaining pairs releasing online at sneakerpolitics.com on Monday, April 27 at 9 AM CT.
